Scenes from Stairway Walk #9, titled Walk Forward but Always Look Back
There are certainly some finer points and lingo of Secret Stairway walks. A few excerpts from Adah Bakalinsky, the ex-nun and author of my secret guidebook:
- “In addition, the tread to riser proportion of the stairs is not felicitous”
- “Open space around the comfortable stairs makes this a happy, bouncy descent”
- “Ascend the well-designed stairway. It features an unusual, long, elevated walkway—perfect for a stairway dance performance”
After a few hours, I find myself thinking more and more like Adah, getting indignant at things like concrete to foliage ratios, or appreciating haphazard L-shaped treads.
