Sometime after rolling down hills in Golden Gate Park at 10am on a Tuesday, checking out botanical rogues and assassins at the Conservatory of Flowers, nursing our hangovers in Muir Woods, and eating fresh japanese noodles, but before a gaggle of tumblrers took over a row of the Kabuki to don 3D glasses for Herzog’s “Cave of Forgotten Dreams,” we had a power nap/karaoke session in a dim and seedy karaoke booth and I belted out my best and most meaningful rendition of this song. It’s important to be friends with people who also believe that “As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like an empress above the Serengeti” is one of the best lines of all time. ALL TIME.
